J.B. Hunt, DTNA to deliver aftermarket parts with electric trucks on dedicated route

Daimler Truck North America (DTNA) and J.B. Hunt have deployed an electric truck to support Daimler’s aftermarket operations.

DTNA is already using electric trucks in its logistics operations, handling inbound freight in the Pacific Northwest, North Carolina, and Mexico.

The newest addition is part of J.B. Hunt’s fleet and will deliver aftermarket parts from DTNA’s parts distribution center in Phoenix, Ariz., to dealers along a dedicated route covering about 100 miles (160 km) daily.

DTNA installed a Detroit eFill charger at the Phoenix facility, the first charging station to be installed at one of its PDCs.

“DTNA and J.B. Hunt share a common goal of fostering innovative solutions for a greener tomorrow. Our collaboration underscores the strength of our long-standing relationship,” said Brian Lewallen, president of Detroit Reman and general manager of DTNA parts operations. “The introduction of this fully electric route is a significant step in our commitment to sustainability and part of our ongoing efforts to reduce carbon emissions within our logistics operations.”

J.B. Hunt was among the first fleets to pilot the Freightliner eCascadia in 2020.
