- The Cybertruck can now be ordered with a frunk-mounted generator
- Archimedes Defense and UP.FIT will install uprated armor on the Cybertruck
- Pre-orders for the packages are open, but pricing hasn’t been announced.
A more insane version of the Tesla Cybertruck just came into focus.
On Friday, Archimedes Defense, a defense contractor, and UP.FIT, a division of Tesla tuning house Unplugged Performance, announced “apocalypse ready” Sting packages for the Cybertruck. The upgrades are said to be aimed at government and defense applications and make the Cybertruck “go-anywhere” ready. The announcement noted civilian use as well.
The upgrades build off the Invincible upgrades UP.FIT announced immediately after the Cybertruck’s debut in 2023. Three Sting packages were outlined so far. Archimedes said it will take pre-orders for the upgraded Cybertrucks, but no pricing was announced.
The Base Sting Baja package incorporates Starlink connectivity (also owned by Tesla CEO Elon Musk) with the satellite receiver mounted in the bed. An AMP Drive G125 800-volt generator gets mounted in the frunk and is said to run on jet fuel, JP-8, diesel, and biodiesel. The generator can output up to 125 kw of energy to recharge the Cybertruck or another EV, and it comes with a NACS charging cable along with adapters for non-NACS vehicles. No photos of the adapters or frunk-mounted generator were provided.
Sting Protector package adds bolt-on offset steel armor plating. The panels are said to be capable of withstanding a 7.62 mm assault rifle. At the reveal and launch of the Cybertruck Musk claimed the electric truck was bullet proof. The Sting Protector package can be added without the Sting Baja package’s generator.
Sting APC takes the armor plating to the next level with IED and mine protection thanks to upgraded bolt-on offset steel and ceramic plating. The uprated shielding can withstand a hit from 14.5 mm heavy machine guns, according to Archimedes Defense.
UP.FIT announced a police package for the Cybertruck in June. In July the Irvine Police Department announced it will soon take delivery of a Cybertruck for its fleet.
